Frequently Asked Questions

What is the FPL Dave Transfer Planner?
The Transfer Planner (Team Planner Studio) is a drag-and-drop squad builder that lets you plan transfers multiple gameweeks ahead, with a live budget tracker, formation auto-detect, and an xPts-based "Optimize Starting XI" button that picks your best XI across a 1-4 GW horizon. Simple mode is a quick swap-and-go view; Pro mode adds hit-cost tracking, chip planning and 3 saved plan slots.
How do FPL free transfers work?
You get 1 free transfer per gameweek, and unused free transfers roll over up to a maximum of 5 saved at once. Extra transfers beyond your free amount cost 4 points each. A Wildcard or Free Hit makes all transfers free for that gameweek - Wildcard resets your free transfers to 1 for the following week, while Free Hit preserves your existing free-transfer count exactly (no bonus +1 on top, since the weekly credit was already applied entering the Free Hit gameweek).
Can I plan multiple gameweeks ahead in FPL?
Yes. The planner lets you queue transfers across future gameweeks before committing any of them, so you can see the hit cost and bank balance for the whole sequence before deadline day. The horizon-based "Optimize Starting XI" scores every player with Poisson-based expected points (xPts) across your chosen 1-4 GW window, not just the next match.
Does the planner know my real FPL team?
Yes - load your Manager ID and the planner pulls your actual squad, bank balance and free transfers from the FPL API. Once an official team is loaded, formation becomes read-only (auto-detected from your picks) so the planner always reflects a squad you could genuinely field.
What is the difference between Wildcard and Free Hit in the planner?
Wildcard changes are permanent - your squad stays as rebuilt. Free Hit is a one-gameweek-only swap; your squad automatically reverts to what it was before Free Hit the following gameweek. The planner models both correctly, including the free-transfer carry-over rules for each.
Is the FPL Transfer Planner free to use?
The first planner slot is free with no sign-in required. Signing in unlocks saving your plan; a 2nd and 3rd named plan slot (for testing alternative transfer paths side by side) is a Pro feature.
